Planning (Plan Mode)
The agent produces a detailed work plan before executing, for you to review, adjust, or approve.
For big multi-step tasks, have the agent lay out a plan first and wait for your approval before touching anything — instead of diving in and drifting off course.
Plan Mode
In Plan Mode the agent only plans, never acts: it presents the steps as a proposal, and executes only once you're satisfied.
- Say "don't touch anything yet, show me a plan first" — the agent enters Plan Mode on its own
- It produces a step-by-step proposal (visible in the right-side canvas on desktop)
- Once you approve, it exits Plan Mode and executes the plan
The plan in the canvas is read-only; to change it, just tell the agent what to adjust.
Best for: refactors, migrations, and any work worth thinking through before starting.
TODO list
During long tasks the agent maintains a TODO list and checks items off one by one, so you can always see the progress and what's left.
When to use it
- More than three or four steps, or multiple files involved → align on direction with Plan Mode first
- A simple one- or two-step task → just let it run, no planning needed

Plans can render as the plan view in the canvas, updating as work proceeds.
